If you need to take your jewelry off for any reason (like for an MRI or X-ray), you can carefully cut open the welded jump ring with a pair or wire clippers, nail trimmers, or kitchen scissors. When you’re ready to have it re-applied, we’re happy to weld it back together at no additional cost! Here are a few things that can impact the lifespan of your personal jewelry: Excessive exposure to harsh chemicals and moisturizers. This includes lotions, perfumes, hair remover (like Nair), self-tanner, and cleaning products. Frequent exposure to chlorinated water or sulfurous well water. If you find yourself in pools and hot tubs often, or have very hard well water, we recommend getting your bracelet with a clasp. Naturally high skin pH Everyone’s body is different – if you already notice that you ‘turn’ jewelry quickly or frequently get gray or green skin stains from wearing metals like silver, your skin’s pH will likely behave the same way with your permanent jewelry. Pregnancy and some medications can also increase this effect.

Our Gold Fill Chain Tarnish Promise We understand that some customers don’t realize the strength of their unique skin pH until they try permanent jewelry for the first time. If you find that your gold fill chain rapidly tarnishes within 10 days of purchase, send us a message. We will give you a voucher to exchange your chain for a chain of equal or lesser value with a clasp so you can enjoy your bracelet in a way that better suits your unique body chemistry. Here’s what’s not covered… There are many factors beyond our control that can reduce the longevity of your permanent jewelry, including rough wear, naturally high skin pH, jewelry care regimen, well water, and excessive exposure to lotions, fragrances, and chlorine. As a result, we are unable to refund or replace lost, broken, damaged, or improperly cared for chains.

Dirt and oil will build up in your chain naturally as you wear it 24/7, so make sure you’re giving your jewelry the ‘spa time’ it needs to look its best. 14k Gold Fill As our most tarnish resistant option, gold fill will keep its beautiful luster for months to years of continuous wear with proper care. Regularly remove oil and dirt buildup from your chain with the provided spoolie brush and Dawn soap, then dry and buff with a gold safe jewelry polishing cloth. Avoid using silver polishing cloths on gold fill, as the extra abrasives will wear down the gold layer of your jewelry more rapidly. .925 Sterling Silver Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time - this is totally normal, and the main reason why we recommend gold fill for those who want a lower maintenance piece of permanent jewelry. But if those cool silver tones are a must-have for you, no need to worry! Silver beautifully buffs back to its original shine even if it begins to tarnish. You can keep your sterling permanent jewelry shiny and tarnish-free by regularly cleaning dirt and oil from your chain with the provided spoolie brush and Dawn soap, followed by drying and buffing with a silver jewelry polishing cloth. For a heavier shine restoration, scrub with a paste of warm water and baking soda.
